Massages
Sobada Maya
(abdominal massage)
The Maya believe that the sobada maya, also known as the Maya abdominal massage or womb massage, helps to bring the body back into balance. Through gentle manipulation of the soft tissues and organs in the abdomen, this practice is said to support reproductive health, improve digestion, and relieve muscle and skeletal complaints. During pregnancy, this massage helps to relax and thus better determine the position of the baby. Beyond that, it can be beneficial for both men and women to relieve abdominal complaints (of any cause).
Closure of the bones
(rebozo massage)
The rebozo massage or closure of the bones, is a ritual that is often applied in Mexican tradition to "close" the postpartum period. It can also be used to close other (whether difficult or not) emotional periods. In this massage, the rebozo (cloth) is used to manipulate the body with gentle and rhythmic movements. The aim is to release energetic blockages, relieve tension in the muscles, and achieve deep relaxation of body and mind. This massage is also applicable for both men and women.
